Thanks Bill,I was wondering about that. What you just described indicates that we're not missing much. But then again,would Kubrick cut scenes that were germain to the story? He didn't strike me as a director who would cut scenes just to make a movie shorter.

Jon,I'm an artist,so I appreciate when a filmmaker composes his shots with an eye of an artist. Kubrick was excellent with composition in this movie. I loved his contrasts of bright whites and deep red. He used it in other films but it really seemed to fit this subject matter. I may ruffle some feathers here,but I prefer his FX to Lucas' STAR WARS. But that's just me. Maybe cause Kubrick wasn't trying to beat us over the head with special effects,like Lucas tries to do. I like Star Wars,but I feel Kubrick used FX to say something more than just a fancy lightshow.
He had a vision and everything worked to that end.
