There was some discussion earlier on this thread as to how much Bradbury and Essex each contributed to the story, and in reading some of Warren's tome lately, it seems from my perspective that Essex was a bit of a braggart both for It came from Outer Space and Creature from the Black Lagoon, regardless of the breadth of his contribution. But the desert speech and a few other scenes really feel like Bradbury to me.

I can't put my finger exactly why I like this story so much, other than to state that there is a...quiet eeriness to this film that I enjoy.
