Loved this film, thought it was great. I think this is perhaps one of the only films I have on all formats (apart from laserdisc). Love the locations, love the cast, love the blackly comic subversiveness of the script and like the soundtrack (can't say loved 'cause I'm not overly enthusiastic on Damon Albarn, but that may be due to unwilling overexposure. Blur was everywhere when I was going to clubs regularly).
Can't figure out why it did as poorly as it did, other than poor marketing as has been mentioned (a curse of a lot of great films with original ideas). But then thats the problem with the world, one half (or a lot less than one half judging by the figures) will never understand the other half. I guess it comes down to you either "get" and appreciate black comedy or you don't. Plus maybe that stuff about Manifest Destiny just rubbed Americans up the wrong way smiley: wink.
