Now that I've seen these clips, I can see who's playing who for some of the characters.
Eager is a girl now?
Dash got a haircut, and O' Ryan has hair?
Where are Venture's mutton chops? (No fair,Wildstar still has a mullet!)
The guy playing Sandor looks enough like the character, I guess. But he should be playing him as calm, not constipated (the old-style Japanese "grimace, grit, and grunt" school of acting doesn't fit the part, I think).
The ships look great . I like how they brought back the Black Tiger fighters from the first season. Does Wildstar's red -and-silver "needle-nose" fighter show up too?
But I'm still wondering about Starsha and Desslok. It's hard to imagine either of them being played by Japanese actors because those characters look so Western. When I first saw STARBLAZERS, Starsha really reminded me of a young Mariette Hartley. The guy who played the evil dragon god in OROCHI and Katagiri in GODZILLA 2000 might be a good choice as Desslok, though. Would it be a spoiler to tell us if there IS a Desslok or Starsha in the movie?
If YAMATO makes enough money, do you think there will be a sequel? I hope this film doesn't kill off everybody except Wildstar and Nova, making a sequel impossible. The second season (the Comet Empire) was my favorite story in the series, and the alien spaceship designs for that one wouldn't need much modification for live-action.
And how soon before SPACE BATTLESHIP YAMATO gets released on DVD?
