Interesting, also some 3.5 years ago or better there were many here declaring HD DVD and Blu-ray stillborn. Too little, too late and a format war to seal the deal. Now we are seeing a fairly firm Blu-ray market, the kind of boutique titles we've enjoyed on SD DVD, and a lot of folks who vowed to never buy a Blu-ray owning (and in some cases liking) their investment.

What didn't happen,

HD DVD wins because it's cheaper to produce & region-free

Studios pull the plug on DVD to further HD media

Electronics manufacturers pull DVD capability out of Blu-ray players to push BD

Blu-ray remains solely a "collectors format" with sales approximating those of laserdisc

All HD formats die due to format war

Players remain at price-points above $200
