Amentep,

"(and occasionally from book sales books I bought for fifty cents that I didn't get around to reading the first time)"

Thank God I'm not the only one who buys books and never reads them. My secret shame. I read hundreds of books a year and have tried very hard of late to not buy anything new until I read all those unread ones I have stacked up. I haven't kept to this rule completely but have cleaned out a lot of books--some I've had unread for twenty years.

Haha, yeah unfortunately I had a large number of books I'd never read.  We used to have a yearly Goodwill booksale that had a lot of paperbacks and I'd easily spend $20 a year (sometimes more)...but that turned out to be at least 40 books a shot.

Many I got because they had a good reputation and I'd liked to have read them, but then several years later I just said "if I haven't read it by now, I don't think I'm going to read it ever".  So I re-donated them to Goodwill.

I have ended up pruning just about everything to get space - VHSes as I replaced them with DVDs, cassette tapes as I replaced them with CDs, comic books and prose books for space, video games for thing I didn't think I'd ever play again...
