I've ever been a sports fan. But one of my most cherished memories is seeing Willie Mays play with the Giants at Candlestick Park. That's right, "Candlestick" - not "Your Corporate Logo Here" Park. Mays was one of the personalities that defined San Francisco when I was a kid. His presence was ubiquitous. I remember him doing public service announcements warning kids about the dangers of blasting caps. This was a period of heavy development in the area around Candlestick. "This is a blasting cap. If you see one, do not pick it up. It can harm you." The PSAs popped up between cartoons for years.

Anyway, big thrill to see him play.

And a big thrill to see the team win the Series - and with a shutout yet!
