I had Richard Anobile's Film Classics Library edition of the 1931 JEKYLL AND HYDE, and always considered that film to be one of the "grails" of lost horror films. When I finally saw it in 1989, I was thrilled to see that most of the long censored footage was restored to the print. I grew up with Tracy's version, and think it's a fine film, but it pales next to the Mamoulian version. The romantic scenes are pretty corny(I think George Lucas must have studied them when he wrote his "love scenes" for ATTACK OF THE CLONES!), but the performances, script and photography are all first rate. A great film.
