Greetings,

In the mid-1960's there were trading cards that featured classic Universal horror movie characters with captions that were supposed to be humorous.

These cards came five to a pack with a stick of stale bubble gum.

Captions were corny; even worse than some of those featured in Famous Monsters of Filmland.

Culturally, they came somewhere between "Ugly Stickers" and "Smarty Buttons."

While baseball cards ruled, there was room for "Beatles Cards" and these monster items.

If memory serves, on the back of the monster cards, equally corny riddles were posed. One I recall is, "What do you call burnt ghost in a restaurant? Ghoul ash."

Please advise if anyone recalls these monster cards.

With every best wish,

Andy in Vancouver.
