- It's probably been mentioned but Godzilla attacks the sub first, then escapes the ice.
Spielberg probably got the JP II idea from there.

- Also, the scene with the mono-filament introduction reminds me very much of the same thing happening in Arthur C. Clarke's Fountains Of Paradise, wonder which one was first?

- According to the script King Kong is an animal, Godzilla a monster.

- Rolisia people speak English and the signs are in English. I wish I'd taken notes on the streets and company signs that are shown.
The "actors" in the submarine scenes are hilariously awful but I must say the guy in the helicopter does a fantastic "IT'S GOJIRA!!!", which was so good they put it on the compilation album
Ditto on that. The actor also stresses GOjira, I've always stressed goJIra.

- Doesn't a character indicate there is a stake on the winner? That means that the debate over who won is not merely a simple non-issue... ...Money is riding on it after all these decades!

"There is a lot of money tied up in this film and people expect to hear a boom when something blows up, so I'll give them a boom."

George Lucas as quoted by Harlan Ellison's WATCHING
