After not seeing the 1931 version for some time I decided to watch it again, and ended up watching it twice! Once by myself, and the second time with a friend who had not seen it yet. Fredric March really did a great job as both Jekyll/Hyde, and it is easy to see why he tied for the Best Actor Academy Award. The transformation sequences were all well done, my favorite being the first with the mirror. Also this film has a lot of nice camera work in it from the initial first person perspective scenes to all the extreme closeups of the actors. Definitely my favorite film version of this story.I also cannot get that 'Champagne Ivy' song out of my head now.
