So that's John Hollingsworth. Thx Stephen for another archival coup.

That he worked with a renowned composer like Vaughn Williams makes me wonder about how Hollingsworth felt with having to facilitate the Hammer house style that added occasional, heavyhanded tympany & snare drums to some wonderful scores. For example, if you listen to the recent recording of Frankel's complete CURSE OF THE WEREWOLF score by Carl Davis (http://www.naxos.com/cata...asp?item_code=8.557850), you'll notice that (unlike the actual film performance) it is devoid of such unnecessary underlining. In all likelihood, it was "just a job" for him to be toiling on films that were mostly maligned in their day. Sad that he died many years ago before reaching the age of 50, not knowing that some 2 or 3 decades later this jobbing work would come to be constantly revived, appreciated, &, incidentally, hummed by the likes of me making my way to work on more mornings than I can count.
