Well, Joe, is any movie sci-fi in every frame?  Maybe a movie set entirely in space, or entirely in the future.  But, is DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL not sci-fi when Klaatu and/or Gort are off-screen?

The very fact that an invisible car, created by scientific means, exists and is used in the movie means--to me--that we're living in a sci-fi world, not the world I live in.  But I very much resist the notion that a movie has to be one genre or another.  To me, CURSE OF THE UNDEAD is a western and a horror film.  DR. STRANGELOVE is a comedy, a war film, and a science-fiction film.  DIE ANOTHER DAY is a variety of things, including spy, action, and, yes, science-fiction.  To me, of course.  I'd never say anyone had to agree with me.

No matter how right I am.  Ha.
