They could've done a better job on the special effects, but that doesn't bother me. If i watched movies for the special effects i wouldn't be watching 50s sc-fi, right
The movie was really enjoyable. It's one of my favorite "underrated" movies of the genre. The cast was top-notch (for a B-movie), the main characters all had depth to them and it was kind of refreshing to have a "mexican mountain" setting instead of a big/small city or a spaceship/planet for once, but that's just me.
As much as i hoped for a better monster the flamestick in the eye scene made up for it. The monster's design was all right, but i didn't like the way it acted, they were trying to make him seem TOO retarded, so that was kind of ridiculous.
Also, I'm not sure if i missed something, but did doc ever give an explanation why Bruce didn't only change in size like the rest of the creatures, but also became angry and mutated?
Maybe he was subjected to the same process as Dr. Evil's ill tempered, mutated sea bass.
