If I'm reading the last ten pages or so of this thread correctly, the notion that Alland could have fed Bradbury only a brief line like "Aliens crash on Earth and hide out while fixing spaceship" and then expected him to fill in everything else simply doesn't fit the versions either Bradbury or Alland have told.  If it was so brief and non-detailed, why would Bradbury, as he remembers it, ever have needed to go the "two treatments" route?  "His" version would have fit the bill just as well as the so-called "vulgar" version.

I'm also curious - how many here other than Tom Weaver have read the various treatments and can offer their opinions on how much they really differ?
