I read the book first and man, the 1980's film version of SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES was a major disappointment to me. For starters, in the book, I was terrified of the scary, otherworldly Dust Witch. In the movie, it was Eartha Kitt.
No, it was Pam Grier. .
The best thing about the movie of SOMETHING WICKED as far as I am personally concerned was when my parents arrived here for a visit with my niece Jenifer, then 11.  I wanted them to visit a movie set just because they'd never done anything like that.  However, either none of my closer friends who work in movies was making anything at that point, or were making things out of town.  But SOMETHING WICKED was shooting on the Disney lot, so I contacted Ray Bradbury to see if there was a chance.  He replied that no, visitors to the set while the film was shooting were not permitted--but suggested we come over at lunchtime, and he'd show us around himself.  Which he did, clad in his usual summertime garb of tennis shirt, shorts and shoes.  He was friendly, outgoing and gracious, and impressed the hell out of my niece.
