Horrible news. I exchanged a lot of e-mail with "Froggy" MacIntyre for several years but had lost touch with him, which I regret. He was a puzzling, fascinating character (which I discussed, sometimes heatedly, with other friends including Gary Prange and Forry Ackerman) and a unique, remarkable writer. The scope of his interests and intelligence was astounding, as reflected in his published work. I highly recommend THE WOMAN BETWEEN THE WORLDS, MACINTYRE'S IMPROBABLE BESTIARY and any of his short fiction and non-fiction you can find, including his IMDb reviews, regardless of their veracity (which has been questioned to say the least).
I'll be rereading our correspondence in hopes of discovering insight; meanwhile, here's "F. Gwynplaine MacIntyre's Ostensible Biography (allegedly!)" from his website:
http://www.sff.net/people/fgwyn/gwynbio.htm
... which includes a final link back to his "alleged Home page":
http://www.sff.net/people/fgwyn/gateway.htm
A brief scan of these pages will give you an inkling of this amazing character.
