I didn't take it as an attack, Craig. It wasn't easy to understand where Fergus was coming from. One post would decry anti-Semitism, another would claim that Ronald Reagan was the greatest American president of all. Not that the one is inconsistent with the other but rather that where the man was coming from was often difficult to ascertain. His likes and dislikes were all over the place.

It could be Lew Grade, Ted, though I know that MacIntyre knew quite a few people in high places, more in the UK than in the States, but he did seem connected, got published regularly. My sense is that he was not bragging about such things. He was quite matter of fact about it.

The more I think about the way Mr. M died, the more angry I feel about it. Assuming that he did it intentionally,--dang!--he could have burned the entire freakin' building down! People could have died. Suicidality is something I can empathize with, homicidality, even if unintentional,--drunk driving, for instance--pisses me off. There's no excuse for it.
