Just this morning, Beverly and I watched the jaw-droppingly beautiful Blu-ray of 7th VOYAGE; while watching a documentary of interview clips of more talking heads than the Hydra (Bob Burns, Rick Baker, Dennis Muren, Joe Dante, Frank Darabont, Jon Berg--it looked like a parade of people who came thru Forry's house; it even included Forry), I began to wonder, probably not for the first time, what movies would have been like without Ray Harryhausen.  I doubt that Charles Schneer would have--COULD have--found someone better to do his giant octopus movie than Harryhausen, so he might not have produced a series of fantasy films.  He surely wouldn't have produced THAT series of fantasy films.  Even with George Pal, it's doubtful that the 1950s and 60s would have produced so many movies of this sort that had such a powerful, life-changing affect on so many boys and young men.
