And I found myself asking a lot of questions about "Atlas, the Monster" (as the opening credits called him)... like: What kind of monster is he, anyway?

While the brain-swapping shenanigains were maybe inspired by A&C MEET FRANKENSTEIN, Atlas himself looked more like the Wolf Man than Westmore's Chaney did in that film. And a quick peek at IMDb and AFI sez that Mr. Jack P. Pierce was indeed responsible for Atlas. Yow ~~ I did not know that!

Just another demonstration that class will out.

I wondered if - after using Lugosi - they actually asked Boris first for this? Because Napier's character was definituly in that vein, though he was classy enough not to imitate Karloff outright.

Can't see Boris seriously considering doing it by '49, but with stalwarts like Skelton Knaggs & Minerva Urekal skulking around, I can't say I even really missed him!

Oh yeah, man, yeah, I love those two flicks. Seein' them this crisp would make all the difference in the world ~~ and having seen GHOSTS ON THE LOOSE in 35mm once upon a time in a musty dusty vintage neighborhood fleapit, I know whereof I speak. (It's not really as bad as everyone who's only seen it on warn out PD Video sez it is.)
