Shadow of the Vampire is a snarky art-house send-up, facetious and mildly pretentious, like somthing a recent film school graduate would make. It's amusing to see Willem DaFoe in the makeup, but his characterization is not at all like Nosferatu should be. He just grunts his lines like he's playing a muppet on Sesame Street. God and Monsters had a little more substance to it.
