J&H puts half of the old Universal horror classics to shame. There maybe something to what you say, Tom.  However, I'm of the belief that the real reason has to do with it having been buried for so many years by MGM - who didn't want it competing with their 1941 version.  If only Monster Kids had had the opportunity to actually see the film as often as the Universal classics!
