I don't use a timer, Joe ~~ I merely click on the title I want to record, and it generally starts 2 minutes before the hour (or half hour). HARD BOILED MAHONEY itself began a minute and a half past the 10:30 am mark, from what I see here. It barely runs over an hour ~~ I watched the end of it in real time, and it was over long before 11:45, followed by that TCM Festival commercial and the LADY SINGS THE BLUES promo.

I didn't bother to record this one because I've already got it on a pre-recorded VHS and it's not one of the better films.

I've got that tape too, Joe, but want it on dvd-r anyway, because you just never know when you're going to need a quick frame grab of Leo Gorcey being manhandled by Noble Johnson in white-face.

Dan Seymour was a lot of fun to watch ("Vat ees zees Routine 9?"), especially after having just watched Bogart throttle him in TO HAVE AND HAVE NOT. He's a real touch of class in a cheap Monogram quickie. (And were those Zucco's "Ramboona robes" he was wearing? Pretty close, anyway.)

I'm not normally a completist about just anything, and I probably have 98% if not all of these movies on vhs anyway from the last time TCM showed the series, but I plan to stick with The Boys over the long haul. Ramboona willing.

Edit:

By the way, the print looked pretty good. But looking at it now, I notice that it wasn't released by Monogram, but by Pathe Pictures Ltd. (obviously a British variant?). I wonder if TCM's previous showing was too, or that VHS pro dupe. Or if in fact they have a better looking version of MR. HEX?
