Just last night, Bryan Cranston was on the Letterman show saying that he went to college to become a cop and studied Administration of Justice.  He took some acting classes just to fill out the schedule and noticed that there were better-looking girls in the acting classes than in the Justice classes.  Thus is a career born.

I can't count the number of times I've heard actors tell this story.  As if there's something suspect or unmanly about actually WANTING to be an actor.   So they all stumbled into it by accident or because it was an easy credit or there were more girls in the class than boys.   The other variation is about dating an actress and how her scene partner bails out so our hero fills in and the rest is history.
