Just saw this last night. A very neat peplum type fantasy, with nice (if not perfect) effects. I'd always assumed it was not very good, as it barely gets mentioned in the literature.

Should definitely be better known, c'mon: Euro-babes! A real Cyclops! Men turned into pigs! Blood & Gore! Sirens! Dead people summoned by a witch! Kirk Douglas, Anthony Quinn & Sylvana Mangano,  uncredited direction by Mario Bava, what else could you possibly want?

Sure, we almost had a version by the Coens (O Brother, Where Art Thou?) and a version by Fritz Lang (Contempt,) but this is the real thing.

The film ODISSEA, in which Bava directed a part, is not the same film with Kirk or Quinn.
