Nice picture, Count: you're on the short list to cater my next birthday bash! BTW: I rented this classic from Eddie Brandt's.

I didn't think that this film had been released on DVD either; I was aware of the VHS release with Elvira which I avoided as being too much to endure.

I actually rented the recently issued double-feature of 'Earth Vs. the Spider" and 'War of the Colossal Beast', but 'The Cyclops' was what was on the DVD and it wasn't a broadcast version- there was a menu play selection screen. When it was returned, they gave me the cited double feature at no charge.

Yes, the flaming stick sequence borrowed from the Odyssey remains intact in this version. This scene was the climax to the film if one doesn't count the Cyclops walking towards the plane while the ignition is being cranked over. The plane takes off just in time in one of the most phoney sequences ever- it looks like it passes through an ghostly outline of the giant.

BTW: I watched "War of the Colossal Beast" last night- I forgot that the picture ended with Manning committing suicide on power lines by the Griffith Park Observatory. Interesting how electricity made the Colonel completely disappear before 'The End' flashes on the screen. This was another pic where some of the dialogue was equal to or worse that the special effects. Someone tell me that $100,000 wasn't spent to produce either of these films.
