I read the VERY LONG string on Bradbury, "It Came from Outer Space" and "Moby Dick" with interest.

Like many others, I have listened to Bradbury's story about being hired to write the screenplay for "Moby Dick" and how Huston treated him- Mr. Bradbury does a spot on Huston impression. I thought that Bradbury's dialogue was spot-on with Melville's book and added a superior tone to the film.

What I thought detracted from "Moby Dick" was Gregory Peck as Captain Ahab. I appreciate Peck and admire his gutsy acumen in taking the role on, but he just doesn't make it play for me.

I was told that Robert Ryan went after the part, but was turned down by Huston. To my mind, Ryan would have made a fantastic Captain Ahab.
