This was Irwin Allen's finest hour!

Hour and forty minutes! (Think Allen would let you shortchange him like that?)

Mark, I've read that same bit (about the trilogy) in several places over the years. I can picture Allen coming up with that bit of business, even if THE STORY OF MANKIND doesn't quite fall into the "Documentary" category as THE SEA AROUND US and ANIMAL WORLD did. (It would actually be nice to see THE SEA AROUND US again. Much better than ANIMAL WORLD, stop-motion sequences aside.)

THE STORY OF MANKIND used to show up on the CBS late movie a lot in the early to mid-Seventies, in my area. There are some amusing moments, and while the basic idea (and cast) are good, the final film doesn't live up to its potential. (I can almost imagine some drive-in playing this as the second half of a double bill with Mel Brooks' HISTORY OF THE WORLD.)
