Hey Rod! You're not the only fan! Interestingly, EC Comics' Bill Gaines and Al Feldstein must have also been fans of "The Bad Seed" as well (at least the original story/play if not the film) For the life of me, I cannot recall the title of the story (possibly "The Assassin"), but it was drawn by Jack Kamen and appeared in an issue of "Shock Suspenstories" or "Crime Suspenstories" in 1954. The story was about a "perfect little girl" who masterminds the death of her "sad and miserable" parents so she can be adopted by a "happy, normal family". The difference between the EC story and the "Bad Seed" is that she gets away with her crime. Gaines and Feldstein caught a lot "flack" for this story, even being cited at the Senate hearings for juvenile delinquency that ultimately led to the formation of the Comics Code Authority.

Not suprisingly, the girl in the story bears a strinking resemblance to Patty McCormak (blonde pig-tails and frilly dresses)!!
