There's at least adult interplay. Coates is the better actress in the role-- but the role is WRITTEN better than the later ones, too. Noel Neill in the two Columbia serials is not as nice-nice/sweet-sweet as in the TV show-- it's written as a 1940s HIS GIRL FRIDAY-ish thing (to which I don't feel she was suited.) But then, every blinkin' character in those serials feels about 1/4" deep anyway.

For all the disdain Coates gets to throw at Reeves in the show, there are breaks in it where other stuff comes through. In "The Human Bomb," she tells Jimmy Olsen, "Get Clark!" That sort of thing.
