I don't smoke pot, but I know several well-adjusted, successful professional people who smoke a little now and then. Some are grandparents-age. It's not just people who need to grow up doing it.

I used to watch this one all the time on cable as a kid. It had a very few scary moments, like the face scene, but I always thought it was more an "event" movie, as Spielberg's movies became after Jaws. That's not an insult, it's a scary movie for the popcorn crowd that does't want serious scares. I always loved the movie. I've held off on the DVD because I want some sort of special edition. I even liked Part 2 a lot. Giger's creature was pretty neat.

Someone in this thread or maybe the other one said something about the novelization having a few more spooks than the movie... with that very post in mind, I was hunting in an old bookstore this weekend and found a copy of the book, which I'd never read before. I'm going to check it out and see what didn't make the screen.
