I refer VAN HELSING as VAN HELSHIT as for the THE MUMMY, it should never been made the way it was, at least from Sommers script. From what I understand is Universal had been trying remake THE MUMMY for years, but could never agree on a script which was rewritten by a'many filmmakers and writers, some from the horror genre itself. They were so desprate, when Stephen Sommers walked and gave them his idea for a Mummy film, they gave it the grrenlight. I think they should have said NO! IMHO, a MUMMY film is a horror-themed feature, not a Indiana Jones/action/adventure themed flick.

Whats' ironic is I actually enjoy the MUMMY trilogy, I know! I Know! Blasphemy, especially from someone who just blasted the studio and filmmakers for making them what they are. but life is funny and odd, ya know, what can I say...

As for VAN HELSING, its a film that could have been something more, darker and hell of alot more horror oriented and the use of more practical effects, if it was in the hands of a right director. In fact THE MUMMY could have been so much more if it was in the hands of a differ director too.
