I always thought that December 25 was Isaac Newton's birthday.  I used it as an excuse to send Xmas-type greetings without being reflexive.  He's the dude who set the Universe right -- or at least explained its righteousness.

Edit: You're okay.  It's probably the George Washington complex.  11 days is the difference between the Julian and Gregorian Calendars.  General Washington (an engineer, whose mathematical smarts thus paid respect to Sir Isaac) shifted his own February 11th birthday to the 22nd to preserve the actual day. 

Hell, both of them deserve two birthdays!
