DESTROY ALL MONSTERS was produced as the swansong for Toho's monster series. But, after some consideration, it was decided to bring back Godzilla in films strictly aimed at pre-teens. So, GODZILLA'S REVENGE was conceived and produced as a Kiddie Matinee feature to launch a new series of films directed at adolescent movie-goers. So, this is why they went from DESTROY ALL MONSTERS, a general audience picture, to GODZILLA'S REVENGE. With this film, Toho launched their "Toho Champion Festival" series, with either new, or re-edited films, paired up with a bundle of short subjects (mostly then-current television fare, such as popular cartoons and superhero adventures) to create a several hour package to keep the kids busy while mom and dad did the shopping. Of course, at that time in Japan, more violence was permitted in their cinema and television, than in the US (eventually, the Japanese PTA put their foot down in the mid-to-late 1980s) -- so, I hope that succinctly answers that response (a woman's breasts aren't necessarily "dirty", either. Even cybernetic ones). The Godzilla films that followed this picture through TERROR OF MECHAGODZILLA in 1975, were all produced in the same manner -- strictly for children. I hope that puts this films, and the other '70s entries, in the proper context for evaluation and discussion.
