That's the bane of much film/radio "restoration"; in order to lessen surface pops & crackles, they essentially through a horse blanket over the audio - deadening ALL of it.

Yes, it's a poor track, but it's a lot LESS poor. It's one of only two versions I've ever owned/seen where you don't need to expend effort to understand the dialogue.
