Watched ICFOS again the other night. I always wondered about the meteorite crater ... it's 1000 yards across. I'd guess that's like a 340-yard diameter. What I know about meteorites, you could fit in your eye, but still I think the impact would have woken up the town a couple miles away. However, except for a couple people, it doesn't. SOMEthing hitting Earth hard enough to create a crater that big .... isn't that the kind of impact that, like, destroys everything for miles around, maybe even does things to the planet that changes the whole shebang? And yet in ICFOS, it doesn't even wake people up. In fact, except for a crater rim, it doesn't even change the terrain a few yards away!
Worse than that.

If it's 1000 yards across, the diameter is 1000 yards.
If it's 1000 yards around, the diameter is 318 yards.

For reference, the Trinity test left a 367 yard diameter crater, and that was a 20 kilo-ton detonation. It rattled windows 100 miles away.
