Oh, and just to mention it... we're five pages in, and no one has said anything about "Plan 9" yet? Pie plates stapled together and set on fire... Lindberg saucer kits on marionette strings? A painted flat for a space station?

You have to admit, it's a contender.

When I think of bad special effects, I think of shots done for endless numbers of Drive In fare, where off the shelf space kits were shot in front of starfeild backdrops... much like some of the shots in "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians" or "Zorgon: Thing From Venus" or "Battle of the Worlds..." Mostly stuff that I've seen kids with Super 8 cameras borrowed from their Dad do better!
