I have Williams in a 1942 British War Department feature - THE NEXT OF KIN. This is the earliest I've seen him.

WITNESS is a wonderful film but I always hated the flashback scene where Power meets Dietrich. When I got my 16mm print it turned out to be an ABC Network print (for errant stations - the network ran 35mm) and that scene was deleted in the negative (for time). I don't miss it.

We did a remake on CBS with Ralph Richardson. He was way past his prime and couldn't approach Laughton's wonderful, wiley Wilfred.
