I have received and viewed the 3 Phantom flicks DVD, and
though the print source wasn't the greatest quality, the
films themselves were fun to watch.
My favorite one was 'Phantom Killer' with Dick Purcell and
Joan Woodbury. This one was a remake of 1933's mystery
'The Sphynx'.
'Phantom of Chinatown' with Key Luke was the last of the
Mr. Wong mystery series. Grant Withers plays Inspector
Street, and Lotus Long is a beautiful mystery woman.
'Phantom of 42nd Street' rounds out the mystery trio with
Dave O'Brien and Kay Aldridge trying to find out who is
bumping off members of the theater district.
Though none of these films posed any threat to rivals in
the race for Oscars, they are each a pleasant diversion for
an evening.
