Hey Zogstar! I will second that "King" is most definitely a cut above your average Monogram/Poverty Row quickie, especially for a film that doesn't benefit from the presence of a Lugosi, Zucco, or Carradine (although Mantan Moreland is a boon to any film he graces)

Interestingly enough, the part essayed by Henry Victor was intended for Lugosi, so I'm sure had he appeared (most likely as the top-billed star), "King" would be much less of an obscure "gem".
