Another idea I had was a sequel to THEM! called THEM AGAIN! The odds of finding all their nests, I always thought, was pretty impossible. So, we pick up in a small town this time, rather than a large city. Probably a mining town with lots of underground tunnels. Communications are cut off to the outside world and they have to deal with the problem by themselves.
Would have a lot of 50's B-movie cliches (as an homage, rather than low budget). Would have bigger budget effects, but NOT the over the top quick cuts and massive explosions of today's movie. More like the old movies, with just better effects.
Still working out all the details. Might have a trailer something like this: A typical exterminator looking guy talking with a homeowner who has just come back from vacation (husband, wife, small boy and dog). They are discussing how serious the homeowner's "pest" problem is. The exterminator tells the homeowner he has a "huge ant problem." The owner asks, "How many?". The exterminator says, "Just one." as they all walk around the house to the backyard. The camerae does a flyover the house and we see a huge dead ant in the backyard as big as the house. Next shot we see the dog goes behind boy and whimpers.
Again...still working on a story...
