The recording industry was slow to react to the digital age; they're still trying to figure out how to proceed. It's a different world. There is less and less reason to rent out brick & mortars. The economy is only part of it. The internet & subsequent digital revolution is the real reason. It's just the way it is now and the economy will hasten the closing up of many shops.

This morning I just learned about the Netflix player by Roku. DVDs, even Blu-Ray discs will be a thing of the past in the near future.

The San Francisco Chronicle may close up shop too. Hang on to your shorts!
