My favorite part of Big Gs battle with the Super X, is that he simply topples a building right down on top of it, end of story!

Surprisingly, I actually felt real sorry for the crew of the Super-X. Once their cadmium missiles are out, the audience knows they are screwed. And yet, I think it's heroic how they valiantly try to blast away at the invincible beastie using everything they got! Despite the obvious odds, they put up one hell of a fight!
But I also think that the Super X-2 was an equally tragic tool. When it first pops out and uses its trademark technique (the reflector), it looks like there's no way it can be beaten. But then there's a malfunction and...image
But it does hurt the Big G enough to the point where he knows to fear the reflector. That's of course an essential plot during the scene where they are trying to inject him with the ANB.

I don't know...I'm always much more sympathetic to the underdogs in these films. If Godzilla's outmatched, then I want him to win. If he's presented as ferocious and indestructible, then I want the humans to win. The very fact that the Big G is unstoppable in the Heisei series makes it a suspenseful experience when mankind launches each new weapon against him. They got very close to victory with MGII though.
