My local airport is tiny--one gate, and it's literally a gate, in a chainlink fence that leads onto the tarmac (at least it was last time I went there which has been a few decades). When Air Force One landed there one day, the place was packed to the gills with people wanting to see President Nixon. I got separated from my parents and didn't find them again until that night. The highway leading to the airport was totally clogged with cars and people. I got within six feet of Nixon but I didn't want to get wrestled to the ground or anything so I didn't manage to shake his hand. He did the double V-sign before getting back into his plane--the whole deal. It was pretty cool.

Legend, oh legend, the third wheel legend...always in the way.
