And let's not forget about our biggest movie stars....... Jim Croce's "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown" was "Badder than old KING KONG" and Blue Oyster Cult had a hit with their song, "GODZILLA".

One of Croce's lesser-known songs begins
"My room will always have some people
You see, Johnny Carson is a friend of mine."
Which I've always thought was one of the nicer little tributes to that show.
"Garden Party" by Rick Nelson has him performing for a crowd of celebrities (mainly other singers, I think, not actors), most of them mentioned indirectly, so it took me a long while to get it. Except for one line (not about a singer OR an actor), that mentions "Mr. Hughes ... wearing his disguise." (He had been in the news lately when the song came out, so that was easy to get.)
