Wow, Lunkie, thanks for posting those links! I watched that show when it first aired on TvOntario back in '77 (jeeze, it may have even been a live broadcast), and hadn't seen it since. Great to find that it's been preserved for posterity. Because you're right, McGoohan was being unusually candid, in a way he seemed to avoid most of the time. I remember after watching this show that it was probably all the explanation that I'd ever need -- not unlike Arthur C. Clarke's breaking down the abstract finale of 2001 -- thus removing any superfluous mystery. Too bad this interview isn't a dvd extra. Thanx again!

... when it ran again in the summer of '69, I got totally hooked (even recorded several including the finale on reel to reel tape and listened to them endlessly) ... I did love all the wild imagery and great music ...
I did exactly the same thing with the old Wollensack 4 track. Imagine my delight to finally hear the full versions of that music on cd after all those years -- especially the music for FALL OUT. The only thing missing was The Beatles and Carmen Miranda!

At the ripe young age of 14, I thought maybe his evil twin brother was number 1
No, that would be Nick Fury's brother Scorpio. image
