You're welcome.
There was at least one occasion (later) where he said, re the finale, 'If someone figures it out, they can explain it to me.'
LOL, I read that too somewhere. He had a great sense of humor. The '77 interview I posted was one of the rare times he really opened up about the series (at least as far as I've seen.) He seemed to enjoy keeping a shroud of mystery about it. I remember reading a long time back where he said something like, 'The answers are there. I'm not going to serve them on a dinner plate. You've got to think about it.' It's interesting how much outrage the ending originally caused and that he actually went into hiding for a while to avoid it. When it first aired here in the states in '68, I only saw one or two random episodes, but when it ran again in the summer of '69, I got totally hooked (even recorded several including the finale on reel to reel tape and listened to them endlessly). At the ripe young age of 14, I thought maybe his evil twin brother was number 1, but really wasn't sure what to think. I did love all the wild imagery and great music though. Years later, I read an article suggesting 6 was 1 and then it all fell into place and thought that was the greatest idea ever.

"Playin' rock and roll music through the horn in his head!"
