There's something quite telling about the former Science Fiction Channel now programming paranormal Bullshit! (thank you, Penn & Teller) that never seems to let trivial matters like science or actual verifiable proof intrude. Move over, James Randi--John Edward is talking to William Frawley's poltergeist!

At the very moment geek culture reigns supreme, SciFi is loading up on dumbass reality shows just like the clueless and schlerotic (soon-to-not-be) broadcast networks. It's like a mammal burrowing up into the post-asteroid strike world and concluding dinosaurs are the future.

But hey, SciFi's showing pro wrestling, too. The kids still think that's cool, right?

How odd that SciFi was more forward-thinking 15 years ago when it was TVLand for Geeks. Where have you gone, Mike Jerrick?

If you'll excuse me, I'm off to see if Who Wants to Be a Superhero? is on, so I can greet the next asteroid with a healthy sense of justice served.

Prof. Christopher McGlothlin, M.Ed.
