There are a lot of reasons that a film's release date can be moved. One is that the release schedule is unrealistic and that a completed film cannot be delivered. That reason is pretty rare. Among the others are that the film is either a dog and should be buried in the release schedule or that it is so good that the studio would like to release it during a portion of the the year when box office revenue trends higher than other parts of the year. Big releases used to come out during the Christmas season. That all changed when Star Wars broke records in 1977, that's when Hollywood began to consider summer the prime release time. I haven't paid attention to box office records for years, but it seems to me that November would be a stronger time to release a film than April. It would have looked better, however, if the release had been scheduled toward the end of the month than at the beginning of the month. That would have exhibited that Universal expected the movie to have box office endurance that would run through the holiday season.

I am a bit surprised that this film isn't scheduled for a late May or early June release. That's where it should be.
