To what they eventually did with their positions, yes. But in this case it is the act of being elected that is so important. No doubt that Washington's election was important, but somebody was going to be elected no matter what. If Obama is elected then a major barrier will have been destroyed. Now, if he becomes anything close to the amazing person that those three you mentioned were, that will be a whole different chapter in the books. But I wonder if this country will ever see another President along the lines of those guys.
